I just got back from a week-and-a-half long roadtrip around the Northeast. It was a nice, relaxing way to end the last summer break of my academic career.

The itinerary was roughly: New York, NY → Rye, NY → Providence, RI → Plymouth/Duxbury, MA → Boston, MA → Salem, MA → Chatham, NY → Willow, NY → Rye, NY → New York, NY → Philadelphia, PA → Wilmington, DE → New York, NY. Or if you’re more visually inclined, this.

More soon. Perhaps pictures if you behave yourselves.

Happy Pi Day, everybody! Hope you have a splendid one. As a Pi Day present, I’ll share with you my favorite approximation of pi: Buffon’s Needle, where pi can be reasonably approximated by throwing small sticks over one’s shoulder on a hardwood floor.

I’m still in sunny Madrid, but today was my last full day. I had some wonderful paella right off the Plaza Mayor, then saw all the typical touristy things. I leave first thing tomorrow morning, and fly back to a job interview. Eesh!

I’m still in beautiful Madrid, enjoying the 65 degree days (far better than the single digits going on in New York, I assure you).

I’m staying with my best friend from high school, the illustrious Chris Perella.  He teaches English to the locals twice a week at the university, but last night his teaching partner bailed.  So last night I spent an hour teaching English to a group of middle-aged Madrileños (N.B.: I don’t speak a word of Spanish).  It was a hoot.

For lunch yesterday, Chris and I had a giant plate of meat.  We went to a nearby restaurant (a sort of French fry bar) and got a huge combo platter comprised of a gigantic heap of fries covered in six different kinds of meat (all exquisite) accompanied by sixteen different salsas/sauces (all also exquisite).  It was delicious.

Late last night, we went to a cave-themed bar.  What an awesome theme.

More later, plus pictures.

Hello. I’m in Madrid.

Yesterday, I was awake for forty hours straight. It was pretty intense.

Last night, I got stuck in an elevator with four other people in an elevator that was far tinier than you can even imagine. I was rescued by Madrid’s bomb squad at 4:30 AM. It was awesome.

Today, I saw five bulls die at the hands of skinny guys in tight pants and silly hats. And it was free, because some awesome old Spanish man gave us five free tickets for spectacular eighth row seats.

More later. ¡Adiós!

Snakes on a plane! No, seriously. This is a guide on how to bring a snake on a plane.

Kenan Thompson not required.

Wow, sorry about the unannounced absence. I went on a roadtrip and alas, it seems stealable Wi-Fi isn’t as popular in the south.

Just a quick rundown: Deb and I went for a roadtrip. We drove to Charleston, SC and spent a day there. We drove down to Cape Canaveral and watched the space shuttle launch. We drove to Fort Pierce, FL and spent 4 days there. We lounged on the beach, we got sunburnt, and I ate dolphin. We drove to Savannah, GA and spent a day there.

I also hung out with a manatee, the ocean’s gentle giant.

Homeboys for life.

Now I’m home. Miss me?
